Jacobson holds form as Murphy makes a move

Fredrik Jacobson continued to defy everything Royal St George's could throw at him in the 132nd Open Championship today.

Fredrik Jacobson continued to defy everything Royal St George's could throw at him in the 132nd Open Championship today.

The Swede was one of only five players to break par in yesterday's first round. He was also the only player not to record a bogey in his opening 70.

Jacobson maintained that record after four holes this morning and sits two shots off South African Hennie Otto's lead.

Jacobson started with four straight pars, although he had to work hard for his five at the fourth.

Ireland's Gary Murphy, who teed off in the first group this morning, picked up shots at the second and third to improve to level par and a share of sixth place.
