US: Michael Jackson (46) has been discharged from a hospital after treatment for flu-like symptoms that delayed jury selection in the singer's child molestation trial, according to his website yesterday.

Mr Jackson was discharged from the Marian Medical Centre in Santa Maria, California, late on Wednesday, according to the site. He was taken to the hospital while on the way to court earlier in the week after vomiting in his car.

His sudden illness forced Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville to interrupt jury selection until next week.

Since jury selection began on January 31st in the sensational trial, potential jurors have only been summoned to court on four days.

Mr Jackson is charged in a 10-count indictment with molesting a 13-year-old boy at his Neverland Valley Ranch and with conspiring to commit child abduction, false imprisonment and extortion.

However, it was claimed yesterday that not a single witness saw him act inappropriately towards children.

Only the 15-year-old alleged victim and his brother have given testimony that the singer molested them, according to new reports.

But court documents suggest that several people gave evidence concerning the alleged conspiracy to silence, extort, and falsely imprison the accuser and his family.

A grand jury heard evidence from some 41 witnesses last year before concluding that the case should go to trial.

Mr Brian Barron, a Californian policeman who worked as a part-time security guard at Neverland, testified that he had never seen Mr Jackson act inappropriately with young boys.

But according to the documents he claims to have seen a note ordering the accuser not to be allowed to leave the 2,800-acre property.

The long-time house manager of the ranch allegedly claimed the accuser's family was held against its will and that the boy and his brother, then 11, slept almost every night with Mr Jackson in the singer's bedroom.
