London - ITV has been told to move its late-night news bulletin to an earlier slot by the Independent Television Commission, which has rejected the network's plans to boost audiences.

The industry regulator is insisting the channel brings forward its 11 p.m. Nightly News programme to help revive falling audiences following last year's cancellation of News At Ten.

Plans to boost ratings by injecting extra cash into popularising the peak time 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. schedule on ITV were ruled out.
