A consortium of IT companies has come together with the IDA to provide 280 places under the Vocational Training Opportunity Scheme to train long-term unemployed people in the Dublin partnership areas in IT skills. FAS, the Local Employment Service and the VECs are also involved in the initiative, which was announced yesterday by Mr Willie O'Dea, Minister of State for Education.
