LUXEMBOURG - The newly appointed international mediator for Bosnia, Mr Carlos Westendorp, said yesterday he gave himself up to two years to achieve an "irreversible" peace in Bosnia.

Mr Westendorp was appointed to his post last Friday. He is due to assume his duties on June 30th amid doubts over whether a united BosniaHerzegovina can survive amid failure to advance toward national reconciliation.
