Mayo:A man from Co Mayo has drowned in Laos, southeast Asia.
He was named locally yesterday as Gary Price (23) from Cullane, Swinford.
Mr Price would have been returning to Ireland at the weekend from Australia with a number of male friends from Mayo.
The group stopped off in Laos for a number of days. It is understood that Mr Price was drowned at the weekend while crossing a swollen river. His shocked companions tried to save him.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed yesterday that Mr Price’s body had been found.
The Irish Embassy in Hanoi was providing consular assistance to the rest of the Irish group and were liaising with Mr Price’s family, the spokesman added.
