Swimming: The three Irish swimmers in action today at day two two of the European Swimming Championships in Budapest failed to make the final stages of their events.
First into the pool this morning were Julie Douglas and Clare Dawson in the 100m Freestyle.
Belfast swimmer Douglas came home first for the Irish in a time of 58.58, with Dawson finishing with a time of 59.64, both times being well outside the swimmers' personal bests.
Galway native Ciara Farrell swam in the 100m Breaststroke in her first appearance at a senior international meet. She finished in a time of 1.14.85, two seconds off her best.
Despite poor showings in the first two days of the Championships the performances should improve for Ireland in the coming days as most of the team have not competed in their main events.
Andrew Bree returns to action tomorrow in the 200m Breaststroke. Bree is the Irish record holder over the distance having set the record at the Commonwealth Games this year where he finished fifth place.
Belfast swimmer Melanie Nocher is also in action tomorrow in her main event, the 100m Backstroke, where it is expected she should at least reach the semi-finals.
