More than 300 foreign fighters have been captured in Iraq by US-led troops and Iraqi security forces since April and their nationalities include Israeli, Irish and British, a senior US commander said yesterday.

Most come from other Arab states, however, Maj Gen Rick Lynch said.

He declined to give any further details about the one Israeli on the list, or the suspect from Ireland and two from Britain.
