Man’s body discovered near Charlemont Luas stop

It is believed the man slipped and fell into the canal while walking on Thursday night

The body of a man has been taken from the canal near the Charlemont Luas stop outside Ranelagh village on the southside of Dublin city.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

It is believed the man, who is understood to be aged in his 30s or 40s, may have been walking near the canal when he slipped and fell in.

A postmortem is due to be carried out on the body shortly.

Gardaí have cordoned off parts of the Grand Canal but nearby roads and cycle lanes remain open. They are examining CCTV footage from the area in an bid to find out what happened.
