A man killed in a two-vehicle incident in Co Tyrone has been named as Jamie Alexander Nelson.

The crash involving a lorry and a car happened close to Brookeborough at about 8am.

It is understood Mr Nelson had been the driver of the car.

Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott said conditions on the road had been difficult.

He said: “I was driving through this area early this morning and saw at first hand the difficult driving conditions with dense fog - and it is very sad that another life has been lost on our roads.

“I wish to extend my sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased.”

So far this year, 10 people have been killed on the roads in Northern Ireland - one less than for the same period last year.

A total of 79 fatalities were recorded during 2013/14 which was an increase of seven on the previous 12 months.
