Man dies after fall from horse in Co Offaly

It is understood animal may have slipped on paved surface

A 25-year-old man has died after falling from a horse in Banagher, Co Offaly, yesterday.

The incident took place at about 6.20pm on the Lusmagh Road.

The man, who lives in the area, was airlifted from the local GAA pitch, St Mary’s, to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, where he was pronounced dead.

It is understood the horse may have slipped on a paved surface, crushing the rider underneath.
