Man (70s) dies after two-vehicle crash in Co Kilkenny

Gardaí appeal for witnesses, close section of N24 after traffic collision on Thursday

A man has died after a car crash in Co Kilkenny on Thursday evening.

The collision involved two vehicles and occurred on the N24 at Belline and Rogerstown, Piltown, at about 7.30pm.

A man in his 70s, the driver of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Waterford, according to gardaí. There were no other passengers in the car.

The other driver involved in the crash, a man in his early 30s, received minor injuries and was also alone in the vehicle.

The scene has been preserved to facilitate a forensic examination. The N24 between Carrick on Suir and Mooncoin southbound is closed and diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone with information to contact them, particularly those who may have been travelling on the N24 from 7.15pm-7.30pm on Thursday.
