Man (58) dies after car hits ditch in Co Wicklow

A man has died after the car in which he was travelling hit a ditch in Co Wicklow.

The incident occurred at Kilmullen Lane, Newtownmountkennedy at about 7.50am on Monday.

The man (58), who was travelling alone, received treatment but was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Gardaí said his body was removed to the morgue at Loughlinstown Hospital and that a postmortem would be carried out on Tuesday.

Traffic diversions were in place earlier while the scene of the crash was examined by gardaí but the road has since reopened.
