Female cyclist in critical condition after collision

A female cyclist is in critical condition tonight following a collision with a car on the Malahide Road in Dublin.

Gardaí in Coolock have appealed for witnesses to the serious road traffic incident which occurred at the junction with Greencastle Road at approximately 6.45pm.

A 45-year-old woman was cycling her bicycle on the inbound lane of the Malahide Road when she collided with a silver Opel Astra at the junction.

Emergency services were contacted and the woman was taken to Beaumont Hospital where her injuries are described as critical.

The car was being driven by a man in his early sixties who was uninjured.
