Gunmen have seized a Filipino man working in Iraq and threatened to kill him unless Manila withdraws its forces from the country within three days, the Arabic satellite channel Al Jazeera said tonight.
The group said it killed an Iraqi security guard with the Filipino, who, it said, worked for a Saudi company working with US forces, Al Jazeera reported.
The Philippines has about 50 military personnel in Iraq. Al Jazeera showed a video tape of three gunmen and a man dressed in an orange jumpsuit kneeling in front of them.
The video showed the identity card of a man named as Hafidh H Amer, an employee of a security services company, purportedly killed by the group.
A banner behind the men identified the group as the Khalid bin Waleed Corps of the Islamic Army in Iraq, named after an early Islamic military leader.
Armed groups in Iraq have seized dozens of foreigners in recent weeks. One group has beheaded two captives, one American and one South Korean.
