Toronto - The vice-president of the International Olympic Committee, who is heading an investigation into a scandal that has rocked the organisation, said he was once offered a $1 million bribe to negotiate a television deal, the Toronto Star reported yesterday.

Mr Dick Pound, a Montreal lawyer heading the investigation into a burgeoning cash-for-votes scandal surrounding Salt Lake City's winning bid for the 2002 Winter Olympics, refused to say who made the offer.
