Institutions shortlisted for research programme

Eleven universities and institutes of technology have been shortlisted by an international assessment panel for inclusion in the Government's £180 million programme for research in third-level institutions between 1999 and 2001. The shortlisted institutions are: Athlone Institute of Technology, Dublin City University, Dublin IT, Carlow IT, National University of Ireland Galway, NUI Maynooth, the Royal College of Surgeons, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, University College Dublin and the University of Limerick. A shortlist of research proposals has also been drawn up and the shortlisted institutions will be invited to develop their proposals further and submit them for consideration by June 11th.
