An investigation has been launched into this morning’s collision between two boats near Tuskar Rock, off the Co Wexford coast.

A Dublin-based trawler, the Sea Hopeand a Maltese registered cargo ship, the Bara Segal, collided 13 miles south east of Rosslare at around 3.00 am.

The Bara Segalstarted taking water, and has since been towed to Rosslare Harbour by the local lifeboat. None of the six crew on board were hurt in the incident.

Kilmore Quay Lifeboat and the Irish Coastguard Helicopter were also at the scene to help pump water from the vessel.

The Sea Hopecontinued its journey to Dublin shortly after the incident.

The Marine Casualty Investigation Board has now begun an inquiry into the incident.
