The Department of the Marine has launched an investigation into a collision between a Bahrain-registered oil tanker and an Irish trawler off Hook Head, Co Wexford, yesterday. According to the Department, the collision did not result in any injuries or pollution.

The tanker, the Alamana, was carrying 83,000 tonnes of crude oil, but was not damaged. However, the Irish fishing vessel, the Stelimar, was damaged above the water line. The trawler was escorted to Dunmore East after the incident.
