An inquest into the deaths of two firemen killed battling a disused factory blaze was today adjourned to allow gardaí to continue their investigations.
Brian Murray, 46, died alongside Mark O’Shaughnessy, 26, in September 2007 after they became trapped inside the smoke-filled building in Bray, Co Wicklow.
Dublin County Coroner Dr Kieran Geraghty adjourned proceedings until November 3 after a request from Inspector Noreen McBrien of Bray Garda Station.
Speaking after the short hearing, Mary Murray, Brian’s widow, said they wanted the ordeal to be over.
“It’s disappointing that it’s not going ahead, we want to see it being over,” she said.
“To be fair, the guards are doing a good job. It’s just a matter of taking each day as it comes.”
Following the tragedy the Gardaí, Health and Safety Authority and Wicklow County Council all launched investigations into the deaths.
Three people have been arrested over the incident to date.
A man in his 50s was questioned and released without charge last month. A woman was arrested in October while a man in his 40s was detained in September. They were also released without charge.
