Three die in bomb attack in Turkey

DIYARBAKIR - Three people were killed and a dozen were wounded yesterday in a series of explosions in southeast Turkey, which were blamed on separatist Kurdish guerrillas, security sources said. Ankara is conducting a military operation, backed by attack helicopters, tanks and artillery against the separatist PKK. - (Reuters)

Mortar attack kills Israeli

SDEROT - A Palestinian mortar attack from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip killed an Israeli woman yesterday, a police spokesman said.

Palestinian militants regularly fire rockets and mortars into Israel from Gaza but rarely cause death or injury. The last time an Israeli civilian was killed in a cross-border attack, on February 27th, the attack was followed by days of Israeli military action in the Gaza Strip which left more than 120 Palestinians dead, many of them civilians. - (Reuters)

RB star's child pornography trial

CHICAGO - Six years after he was charged with videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl, RB superstar R Kelly went on trial yesterday, with his alleged victim prepared to deny she is the person on the tape.

Kelly has been charged with 14 counts of videotaping, producing or soliciting child pornography. Prosecutors argue he knew, or should have known, the girl was a teenaged minor. - (Reuters)

US forces kill Sadr militants

BAGHDAD - US forces have killed 25 militants in the past two days in the Baghdad slum Sadr City, a stronghold of anti-American Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, the military said yesterday.

The gunmen were killed in several clashes on Thursday and yesterday, the military said.

Hospitals in Sadr City said they had received four bodies and treated 51 wounded, including children, by yesterday morning, but gave no further casualty figures.

Burrell not to face charges

LONDON - Paul Burrell will not face a police investigation over allegations of perjury relating to the Diana inquest after the Metropolitan Police decided there was "insufficient admissible evidence". - (PA)
