Police in Northern Ireland were today searching for a man who indecently assaulted a three-year-old girl by luring her into bushes just yards from her home.
The man, aged around 25, tried to entice the child with money during the incident close to a play park in Derry.
As detectives combed the Ballymagroarty area of the city, the frightened youngster's parents took her to be interviewed by police via videolink in a bid to glean more information.
Mr Billy Page, a Derry City councillor who spoke with the family, said: "They are not coping well."
Referring to the attack, which happened on Thursday night, he said: "This was only a couple of feet from their front door.
"He took the child into the bushes and tried to give her cash so she would touch him.
"He then exposed himself and tried to get her to go in his car but he ran when another man approached him."
A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said detectives were searching for a man aged about 25 seen acting suspiciously in a play park at O'Riada Court.
