Gerard Houllier remains confident of sealing Lee Bowyer's Stg£9 million transfer from Leeds as talks dragged on through a fourth day.

The two sides have still not been able to come to agreement on Bowyer's personal terms and the midfielder was back training with Leeds today.

Bowyer reportedly wants more than the £35,000-a-week Liverpool have offered the former England Under-21 star.

Houllier, though, is still upbeat that the negotiations will have a successful outcome and he said: "The situation remains the same. Talks are on-going, but we have set no time limit on the matter."

Captain Sami Hyypia, meanwhile, is excited about the possible arrival of Bowyer to Anfield.

He told www.liverpoolfc.tv: "It could be good to have somebody who also has Premiership experience.

"Lee Bowyer is a good player. If you come as a big signing there is always a standard to live up to, but all the players we have brought in are good players and Lee is no different."
