Another five people have died in Hong Kong after contracting SARS, and 11 new cases of the disease have been recorded, health officials said today.
The latest deaths all men, aged between 34 and 83. Four of them had a history of chronic disease, officials said.
A total of 1,600 cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) have been recorded in the territory since March 12th, a Hospital Authority offical said.
He said 43 patients have recovered and been discharged, bringing to 834 the number of people who have recovered.

There are also 102 recovering patients who are in convalescence and preparation for discharge, the official said. Another 88 were in intensive care, he added.
