Calls to helplines dealing with HIV and AIDS prevention have increased threefold since last year, according to new research. A Red Ribbon Project report found that over 80 per cent of calls were by men. The report, supported by the MidWestern Health Board, added: "The majority of people feel that condom use is still a problem."

Launching the report in Limerick yesterday, the Minister for Health, Mr Noonan, praised the Red Ribbon Project for its commitment and support in its fight against AIDS. "Its professionalism and enthusiasm in managing this Europe Against AIDS project resulted in a very successful campaign," the Minister said.
