Convicted drug dealer John Gilligan has secured a High Court order overturning an order made by the Special Criminal Court for confiscation of €17 million of his assets.
The High Court has ruled the Special Criminal Court had no jurisdiction to make that order.
The State is expected to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
Gilligan is currently serving a 27-year sentence in Portlaoise Prison for drug dealing.
