Irish IOC member Patrick Hickey had a scare on his way to the Winter Olympics when the plane he was on was forced to carry out an emergency landing after an engine problem.
Hickey had been on a Delta flight from Dublin to Washington but the pilot rerouted the flight to Boston because of the problem.
"In the end everything was all right but it was scary at the time," said Hickey. "When he touched down we were surrounded by fire engines."
The enforced stop delayed Hickey's arrival by nearly 24 hours. -AFP
