Prague - The Czech President, Mr Vaclav Havel, underwent a tracheotomy, or throat puncture, to facilitate breathing last night at the Innsbruck hospital where he was recovering from intestinal surgery, doctors said. Mr Havel was rushed to hospital 10 days ago while on holiday in Austria.
