The second day of the Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show got off to a good start as the sun shone on the RDS and crowds gathered around to watch the showing and jumping competitions.
Some 100,000 spectators are expected to attend the event before it ends on Sunday.
Today is Ladies Day with a trip to New York worth €8,000 up for grabs for the best dressed lady. Organisers are expecting about 500 entries in the Blossom Hill competition which gets underway on the RDS band lawn at noon.
The three international jumping competitions in the main arena start with the Speed Derby just after 1pm, followed by the Knight Frank Speed Stakes and the Anglesea Stakes.
The highlight of the event – the FEI Nations’ Cup will get underway tomorrow in the presence of President Michael D Higgins. Ireland has not won the Aga Khan trophy in the event since 2004.
