Harney announces 370 new jobs in Co Cork

The Tánaiste, Ms Harney, today announced details of four new projects in Co Cork that will create 370 jobs in the county.

Schlumberger a technology services company which currently employs 75 people in Little Island is to double its workforce.

Pharmaceutical company Altana is looking to recruit 150 people at its new euro70 million facility in Carrigtwohill and Minelab Electronics an Australian owned firm will create 42 jobs at its expanded operation in Bandon.

Eurotec a designer of microwave devices has announced an expansion of its R&D facility in Blackrock which will employ 43 people when completed.

The projects will all be funded by IDA Ireland.

Ms Harney was also preparing to meet workers in Youghal, east Cork, where hundreds of jobs have been lost in recent months.
