A man has died after storming an elementary school in the small German town of Emsdetten today.
He fired shots, and police said a teacher, janitor and several students had been lightly wounded. All pupils were cleared from the school.
A police spokesman said the man had an explosive device attached to his body, which experts were attempting to defuse.
Police said the man, whom German television reports identified as a former pupil, entered the building this morning immediately opened fire.
Emsdetten is a town of 35,000 near the Dutch border.
