The chief executive of the Labour Relations Commission, Mr Kieran Mulvey, is expected to invite both sides in the Guinness Ireland dispute over the closure of a Dundalk packaging plant to talks today. The Guinness group of unions has called a strike for Thursday to prevent its closure. If the talks at the LRC are unsuccessful, Guinness is expected to begin winding down its brewing operations throughout the Republic immediately.
