Green warning on traffic pollution

The Green Party has claimed that air pollution in Dublin is killing more people than car accidents

The Green Party has claimed that air pollution in Dublin is killing more people than car accidents. Mr John Gormley TD said the latest Environmental Protection Agency report on air pollution in Irish cities made disturbing reading. He was especially concerned about the huge concentrations of PM10, a microscopic dust in Dublin's city centre.

Mr Gormley claimed PM10s caused cancer and heart problems and were found primarily in diesel fumes. He said the Government must take immediate action in relation to heavy goods vehicles and Dublin's filthy buses.
