A gorse fire high up on Bray Head Co Wicklow disrupted rail services for almost an hour earlier this morning.

A member of the public alerted Bray Fire Brigade to the fire at around 8.30 a.m. this morning.

DART and rail services between Greystones and Bray were suspended between 9.40 a.m and 10.40 a.m. and the 7.20 a.m. from Rosslare to Dublin was delayed for 55 minutes.

A spokesman for Bray Fire Brigade said the fire was a natural occurrence, particularly for this time of year. The fire was too high up on Bray Head for a fire engine to be sent.

The fire eventually burnt itself out and normal rail services in the area have now been resumed.
