Goff's profits leap to new heights

Irish bloodstock sales agency Robert J Goff and Co has reported profits-after-tax of €3

Irish bloodstock sales agency Robert J Goff and Co has reported profits-after-tax of €3.6 million for the year ended March 31st - a 39 per cent increase on the previous year's earnings.

The figures represent record earnings for the company which recorded its best ever year in terms of turnover, earnings and profitability, said a statement today.

The company has developed its sales outlets with the acquisition of a new bloodstock entity in France entitled Arqana, and the recent acquisiton of Doncaster Bloodstock Sales in the UK.

The company's Million sale grew turnover to €59.2 million showing a growth of 34 per cent in turnover since it began two years ago.

Goffs has also developed its operations through the Shelbourne Hotel Goffs Million race and the company's first UK sale which took place at Kempton Park Racecourse.

Chairman of Goffs, Oliver O'Reilly, said: "The long standing international aspirations of R J Goff were considerably enhanced in 2006 through the acquisition of a substantial shareholding of the new bloodstock sales company in France, Arqana. The recent merger of Doncaster Bloodstock Sales and R J Goff will give the group a turnover of approximately €200 million and opens a new chapter in the bloodstock auction business on these islands."
