Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand both returned to training with England today, with both comeing through today's full session without any recurrence of their previous problems.

Gerrard and Ferdinand were both ruled out of last night's qualifier in Macedonia, which England won 2-1, with no further injury problems arising out of the game.

The England medical staff are now hopeful that both players will be available for selection for the match against Liechtenstein at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Gerrard was released from the squad last week to return to Liverpool for further treatment on an ankle injury, while Ferdinand had to pull out due to a kidney complaint.

However, both have responded to treatment and, while Paul Scholes is still ruled out with a hernia problem, Sven-Goran Eriksson will hope to have Gerrard and Ferdinand available for selection at Old Trafford.
