BEIJING - A gas explosion that ripped through a coal mine in the northern Chinese city of Datong killed at least 114 people, local reporters said early today. The explosion happened on November 27th in Dongcun mine, in the suburbs of Datong.

A journalist with the Shanxi Daily said the number killed had risen from the 91 reported by the newspaper on Sunday.
