It is said that snowdrops should be moved or divided only when they are in leaf - or "in the green". This advice is always delivered with such authority that I've never dared to act differently. It is also said that you should wait until the flowers are finished, but I find that you can move them before or during flowering, if you are careful.

Replant in soil with a little added bone meal. Heavy soil can be lightened with grit or leaf mould. Do not use manure: it is too rich.

In the vegetable garden you can sow broad beans, but to avoid disease, make sure that they are in a bed where you have not grown peas or beans for at least a year (or two or three preferably). Garlic should really have been planted by now, but it's still worthwhile popping in a few cloves. Plump specimens from the supermarket or greengrocer's are fine to use.
