Gardaí seek taxi driver in murder case

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the murder of a man whose body was found with serious stab wounds in a garden shed in Cork city earlier this month have appealed to a taxi driver to contact them.

Supt Con Cadogan of Gurranebraher Garda station said gardaí investigating the murder of Lee McCarthy (25) were anxious to speak to a taxi driver who could be able to assist them.

The taxi driver collected three men near St Patrick’s Church on Lower Glanmire Road at around 4am on April 17th and brought them to the vicinity of St Rita’s Ave in Gurranebraher.

Supt Cadogan said gardaí were anxious to speak to the taxi driver and he appealed to him to contact the investigation team at Gurranebraher Garda station on 021- 4946200.

A 33-year-old man, Timothy O’Driscoll, from St Rita’s Ave, Gurranebraher, was remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of Mr McCarthy.
