GARDAÍ IN Cork last night released a young man without charge after questioning him about a stabbing which left another young man fighting for his life.
A file is to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Officers from Gurranebraher arrested the 25-year-old man after they received a call from a woman at about 9.20pm on Sunday telling them a man had been attacked in an apartment on Cathedral Road on the northside of the city.
Gardaí arrived to discover a 24-year-old man unconscious and bleeding from stab wounds to the head, back, stomach and legs following what they described as “a frenzied attack”.
The injured man, who is from the Churchfield area and had been visiting the apartment, was taken to Cork University Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
The man was yesterday described as stable by a hospital spokesman.
