Gardai question man over death in Bray

A man in his late 20s is being questioned by gardai about the death of a man in Bray, Co Wicklow, on Monday night

A man in his late 20s is being questioned by gardai about the death of a man in Bray, Co Wicklow, on Monday night. The dead man was named last night as Gary Madden (30), from Roger Casement Park, Bray.

Gardai said an ambulance was called to an area of waste ground on Ravenswell Road, Bray, at around 10.30 p.m. on Monday night.

Mr Madden was unconscious when the ambulance arrived. He was pronounced dead an hour later.

Preliminary results late last night of a post mortem examination showed that Mr Madden died from a blow to the head, gardai said.

A garda source said the man being questioned came to Bray Garda station about 2 p.m. yesterday with his solicitor and was arrested shortly afterwards.

The man was being questioned last night under the Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Act.

His period of detention was extended last night.
