Gardai investigate assault of child on Luas train

Gardaí from the Bridewell are investigating an assault on a young boy on the Luas train shortly before 7pm last night.

Gardaí from the Bridewell are investigating an assault on a young boy on the Luas train shortly before 7pm last night.

The assault happened at Smithfield station when two boys aged around eight and ten years old and armed with penknives assaulted the boy.

According to Gardaí the two boys  started attacking the other child by cutting his jacket, they then kicked him in the face, causing a cut to his lip before they ran away.

The driver of the train noticed the incident and called the gardaí.

The boys are described as being 4'3" and 4'9" tall of thin build with close-cut fair hair. They were wearing wine-coloured track suits with a grey-coloured logo.
