Gardai have confirmed that a car found at the Talbot Hotel, Wexford, is owned by Mr Chris Crowley (42), whose four-year-old daughter, Deirdre, disappeared from his partner's home in the Douglas area of Cork earlier this month.

The mother of the child, Ms Christine O'Sullivan (37), has appealed for information about the girl's whereabouts.

Gardai have also appealed for information but apart from reported sightings in the Mitchelstown area of Co Cork on December 10th, no other traces of the girl or her father have been found.

Since the discovery of Mr Crowley's car two days ago, gardai have been checking ferry services to determine whether he took his daughter abroad. Mr Crowley is a teacher in Cork.
