Two men were arrested and up to £200,000 worth of cannabis seized by gardai in Co Laois early today.

Two men were arrested and up to £200,000 worth of cannabis seized by gardai in Co Laois early today.

The men were detained on the Portlaoise by-pass by members of the Garda national drugs unit at 1.30 a.m., and between 15 kg and 20 kg of cannabis resin were seized. A Garda spokesman said the drugs would have a street value of between £150,000 and £200,000.

The two men, who have Cork addresses, were detained at Portlaoise Garda station under the Drugs Trafficking Act.
