Gang with hammers attack NI man

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital after being assaulted at his home by four men wielding hammers.

The incident happened shortly after 8.15pm yesterday when the men entered the house at Church Green, Hollywood, Co Down.

The victim was struck a number of times and was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A man in his 30s was later arrested, and two cars were also seized as part of follow-up investigations.

Detectives are trying to establish a motive for the attack.
