The Minister for the Environment is to provide funding for an independent report to evaluate alternative technologies available for an underground sewage treatment plant at Mutton Island in Galway Bay. Following a meeting with Galway city councillor, Ms Margaret Cox (FF), who is opposed to a ground-level plant, Mr Brendan Howlin said he was advising Galway Corporation to employ consultant engineers to investigate and cost the alternatives.
