Dual star Alan Kerins has been dropped from the Galway senior hurling panel by manager Noel Lane, according to reports within the county this evening.

The reports of Kerins’ omission come just over a week after Eamonn Cregan’s firm stance on dual players led to his controversial resignation then return as Limerick hurling manager.

Kerins played in Galway’s FBD league win over Sligo on Saturday and appeared as a substitute for the hurlers in their NHL Division 1A win over Meath yesterday.

The Clarinbridge clubman won an All-Ireland football medal last summer but missed out on a rare double when the Tribesmen were beaten by Tipperary in the All-Ireland hurling final at the beginning of September.

Kerins is regarded as one of the country’s most gifted hurlers and Lane is keen to secure exclusive use of the exciting forward in time for Galway’s championship campaign.

It has been reported that football manager, John O’Mahony, is content to allow Kerins to concentrate on both codes.
