SEOUL - Striking South Korean workers shut car factories and shipyards yesterday, crippling key export industries, and hospital and subway workers threatened to join an all out work stoppage in a fury at a new labour law.

An initial half a million workers were called out on an indefinite strike. The new law, allows companies to lay off workers and to introduce flexible work hours.
