An army sergeant serving a life sentence for murder was sentenced yesterday to a further eight years for two related charges at the Central Criminal Court.

Tommy O'Brien (37), Ashbourne, Co Meath was convicted on October 25th of the murder of Mr Dermot McKeever (20) January 1st, 2000.

Mr Justice Patrick Smith sentenced O'Brien to four years respectively for two other charges of endangerment and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
