A funeral service will be held in Dublin today for the Romanian man whose body was discovered in a suitcase in the Royal Canal.

Mr Adrian Besta, (21), was identified after the Garda took the unusual decision to publish photos of the dead man’s face.

His mother, Ms Mariana Moraru, travelled to Ireland last Thursday night to help the Garda formally identify the body by giving blood for a DNA test.

She will join friends and members of the Romanian community at the service in the Greek Orthodox Church in Arbour Hill, Dublin.

On Friday she attended a candle-lit religious service on the bank of the canal where her son's body was found last month.
